Barrie Colts U12A Clinch Back-to-Back Championships in 2023-24 Regional International Silver Stick Tournament
Following their Championship win last weekend in the A/BB Barrie Classic Tournament, the Barrie Colts U12A have once again emerged as champions.

The team recently took part in the 2023-24 Vaughan Regional International Silver Stick Tournament, facing off against the Ted Reeve Thunder.  Establishing an early lead that they maintained, the Colts secured a triumphant victory on December 3rd in this prestigious event, marking their second consecutive year as champions in the Regional Silver Stick.

After an intense series of five fast-paced and suspenseful hockey games, the team claimed the top position in their pool of the round-robin with a flawless 3-0 record.  Impressive offensive performance saw them score 14 goals while only allowing 2, earning them a spot in the semifinals.  Demonstrating determination, the Colts overcame a 2-goal deficit in the semis, equalizing in the 3rd period.  The team collaborated effectively, scoring 7 minutes into the 3rd and securing a sweet victory, propelling them to the finals against the Ted Reeve Thunder.

In a closely contested match, the Colts secured an early goal in the second period, navigating through an intense competition where victory hung in the balance.  The Barrie boys exhibited unwavering effort, successfully preventing the Thunder from scoring, ultimately claiming a 1-0 win and earning the title of the 2023-24 Regional International Silver Stick Champions.

Looking ahead, the Colts are preparing for the International Silver Stick Tournament in the upcoming year, where they will face teams from across North America.  The Barrie team roster includes Cole Flachs, Cole Beaman, Daniel Soatto, Owen Rodney, Nick Girolametto, Harrison Parker, LJ Dewar, Jake Comeau, Luke Thompson, Maddox Smith, Zac Vanek, Maddox Koval, Ethan Elder, Jacob Davidson, Walker Greavette, Torin Schwartz, and Matthew Vankrimpen.  The committed team staff features Jamie Vanek (head coach), Don Rodney (trainer), Mike Soatto (assistant coach), Jason Schwartz (assistant coach), and Janice Smith (manager).
